New Asian Futurisms Opening Reception

Mainstream science fiction evokes fear for the future. New Asian Futurism, asked artists to imagine how a shift in perspective can inspire us, instead, to look forward to looking forward. The artists in this public program continue the journeys embarked upon by Afrofuturists like Samuel L. Delaney, Sun Ra and Octavia Butler with existing media, in a narrative of hope. The evening will include light refreshments, free palm readings by Shizu Homma, and free tarot card readings by Victoria Wikler.
