Kick off your Memorial Day weekend and summer 2019 with an old-school painting event on the back of the Union Transfer building in the 1000 block of Nectarine Street. Celebrate graffiti legends: Lady Pink, Crash, and Daze! Local Artists, Blur and Adam Crawford, will be painting alongside the world-renowned artists. See the finished artwork, dance to DJ Lil’ Dave, and enjoy a popsicle from Purposeful Pops on Nectarine Street from 5:30 to 7:30 pm or check out the after party across the street at Love City Brewing.

 

Opening: Summer 2019 Exhibitions at AAMP

Two exhibitions will be opening. DO or DIE: Affect, Ritual, Resistance featuring works by Fahamu Pecou (on view from May 25 through August 25, 2019), and Self-Evident by Sonja Clark (on view from May 25 through September 8, 2019). This celebration is free and open to the public, and includes complimentary wine and music.

Featuring a performance by one of the artists in the show, Shasta Geaux Pop! Assemblage features works created by artist collectives and looks at the question of authorship and defying categorization. Artist Bash: Bring It

Artist Bash invites you to bring it—your voice, your energy, your vibe—to help create one-of-a-kind art. Get ready for another power packed lineup of performances: Step into a photobooth and become part of a living portrait by Amber Art and Design, a community-driven arts collective. Listen to Yolanda Wisher & The Afroeaters. Yolanda’s vivid words and soaring vocals will be set to the lively sounds of her band the Afroeaters. Jump in with Hip Hop Fundamentals, high-energy performers drawing on the rich history of hip-hop dance. Glbl Vllg ends the night with a concert where the audience is the headliner. Take a turn on the mic, show your dance skills, or just cheer on the performers. Tickets include access to the Barnes’ permanent collection.

 

Almanac’s Fit Fest

Love City will open EARLY on Memorial Day for another fabulous brewery barbecue. Let them do the grilling for you – they’ll have $1 hot dogs and $2 burgers (while supplies last)! Enjoy cornhole in the brewery, and all your favorite beers on draft.
