Top New Year’s Eve Events: NYE Ghost Tour, Party at Cherry St. Pier, Kid’s New Year’s Eve at Franklin Square & More!

Ready to ring in 2019? We’ve rounded up some of the best events and parties happening throughout Philly and New Jersey on Monday, January 31 so you can start the year right!

Fireworks on the Delaware River Waterfront (6 pm & midnight) can be seen from a variety of places including: Battleship NJ, Hilton, Race Street Pier, Blue Cross RiverRink, Penn’s Landing, Spirit of Philadelphia, Moshulu, SugarHouse Casino and more!

 

NYE Ghost Tour

Reservations range from 6:15 pm – 10:45 pm

The Powell House

Cost: $22 per person; must be age 13+

Ring in the New Year in a most unusual way with a candlelight Ghost Tour of a haunted Society Hill mansion! Experience an enchanting evening filled with ghostly tales of mystery, merriment and resolutions gone awry! A portion of proceeds benefits PhilaLandmarks, the nonprofit organization that maintains the Powell House.

 

Cherry Street Pier + Flygrrl Present: New Year on the Pier

Cost: $50; must be 21+

For the first time ever, DRWC will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Party in the newly opened Cherry Street Pier in partnership with Flygirrl featuring DJ Lil’ Dave + Lean Wit It. This event will celebrate everything that makes this new park so unique – an incredible space, music, art, great food, drinks, and of course, unbelievable views of the SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront from the outdoor garden. Guests can dance, make art, watch live art, see exhibitions, take in the views, drink and eat. Limited tickets are for those 21+ and include private access to the entire pier for the night, never before seen views of the fireworks, fire pits and outdoor heaters, an indoor warming tent, two drink tickets, and pay-as-you-go food from our on-site vendors. Dress warmly!

The Bowery presents American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Highbridge, best known for his song, “Drowning”, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, along with the hip-hop collective, Hardwork Movement.

 

New Year’s Eve Splash

Extended hours through 6 pm

Adventure Aquarium

Ring in the New Year with your family, friends, and fish at the annual New Year’s Eve Splash at the Adventure Aquarium! Featuring, ‘New Year’s Around the World’, where we will celebrate a different country every hour and talk about traditions from that country within our animal talk. Boogie down to DJ Shell-ebration Dance Parties. Then end the evening at the best spot on the waterfront to see the beautiful twilight fireworks display over the Delaware River!

 

Eyes Wide Shut

Delve into the world of the underground. A place where rules don’t exist and the only limit to your entertainment is your imagination. This marks the third annual Eyes Wide Shut NYE party. Tickets include five hours of open bar with hors d’oeuvres and hours of dancing courtesy of a DJ. Show up wearing masks and black-tie attire.

 

New Year’s Eve at Underground Arts

Doors 8 pm; Show 9 pm

Cost: $35 per ticket; must be 21+

On the roster at the Underground Arts this NYE is the West Philadelphia Orchestra, a unique live ensemble in today’s auto-tuned musical world, Johnny Showcase & The Mystic Ticket, Red 40 and the Last Groovement.

 

Kids’ New Year’s Eve in Franklin Square

3 pm – 8 pm

Cost: FREE

Enjoy music and crafts beginning before the Square Drop from atop SquareBurger at 6 pm and Sugar House New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront, viewable from the Square. The indoor Franklin Square Pavilion will host a Kids’ Dance Party until 8 pm for the final Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show. The Franklin Square Holiday Festival includes a winter beer garden with fire pits for warmth and charm and Ben’s Sweets & Treats where guests can create and taste a variety of treats including make-your-own s’mores and gourmet hot chocolate bar inside the heated tent with views of the Square.

 

Battleship New Jersey

6 pm Tickets (4 pm entry), Midnight Tickets (10 pm entry)

$10 donation (per person)

The Battleship will open her decks for guests to watch the 6 pm or Midnight SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront. There will be music, food concessions and bar service. All proceeds go to the ongoing restoration of the Battleship, a non-profit museum and memorial.

 

Gritty 2018

Cost: $5 Cover; must be 21+

Ring in the new year with no fuss and all fun at The Dolphin! Nonstop party jams by DJ Christoff, $1 well drinks and Tecate all night long, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.
