October is PA Wine Month and there is still plenty of time to enjoy a winery event or discover local varietals at some of your favorite restaurants across the region. Block Party: Block Printing With Carla Weeks

Design and print your own furoshiki with artist Carla Weeks! Rikumo Concept Store presents a special DesignPhiladelphia crash course in the art of block printing designs onto fabric. Students will learn about the history and significance of block printing before trying their hand at printing their own designs. You’ll leave with a working knowledge of block printing and functional furoshiki to use and reuse for years to come.

Come out for the fall festival to beat all other fall festivals! The Haddonfield Fall Fest will have entertainment for people of all ages. They’ve got carriage rides, scarecrow making, craft vendors and so much more.

Festival for the People features three weekends of dynamic participatory programs and events, sculptures, and installations. Some highlights to look out for are Impulse, an installation of seesaws designed by CS Design and Lateral Office, and Prismatica, a group of colorful spinning prisms by Raw Design. (There will even be a film festival made up of ASMR videos!) Check out the newly opened Cherry Street Pier, and appreciate contemporary art in all of its glory at Festival for the People!

 

The 5th Annual Philadelphia Alternative Taxidermy Competition

There aren’t many opportunities to witness a taxidermy competition, so you should definitely take advantage and go see the 5th Annual Philadelphia Alternative Taxidermy Competition. We’re not entirely sure what you’ll witness there, but it’s sure to put you in the Halloween spirit. Attendees are also encouraged to dress in fur or feathered finery.
