Founders Fatène Ben-Hamza (currently Casablanca, Morocco) and Steve Garguilo (currently Ciudad Juárez, Mexico), both living in migration frontiers some depict as “shitholes,” want to challenge the current negative narrative spreading across the globe by showcasing the brilliant work of artists from these “shithole” regions. The show features artists from Haiti, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Rwanda and Tunisia.

What is an appropriate monument for the current city of Philadelphia? Revisit last year’s series of public exhibitions curated by Monument Lab and and produced with Mural Arts Philadelphia. The research has been transcribed, mapped, and will soon be uploaded to Open Data Philly. Mark the public release of the Report to the City at a party on Tuesday, October 2, with free newspaper editions of the Report, a virtual reality tour of the 2017 exhibition, refreshments, and a special performance by Monument Lab collaborator Ursula Rucker.
